Exercise 12.2 in Programming Erlang talks talks about creating and graphing process creation time. So, here goes; all times in (real/wall) microseconds:

  100 1000 10000 50000 90000 100000 200000 250000
Macbook Air 0/0 6/7 4/4.4 3.8 / 4.1 3.7/3.9 3.5 / 4.0 3.9 / 4.7 3.8 / 4.4
Thinkpad

What's interesting is that it looks like up there's a local minima around 90k processes where process creation time just drops and drops. Good to know for tuning later.

Not much computering this weekend - lots of time doing brunch with friends, wandering around Berkeley with the lady, and generally just not being on the computer. I'm reading The Age Of Surveillance Capitalism and it's making me think a lot; I'm going to need to start filling out an outline for that.
