PT: Today was supposed to be a recovery day, so I started out on my normal hour long walk route with a trash bag to do some good in this world while getting some physical activity. As I was walking, I realized that the creek bed was right there and I could do a few of the agon challenges, so I ended up knocking some out.
GD: I cleaned up some trash at the gas station and on my walk. I also encouraged my mom with some stuff she is trying to do. (Sundays are when my parents and I have a long call to catch up).
Agon: I found some time to do the rock carry, the rock hop, and the tree hang. I picked a rock that was as close to my 45# ruck plate as possible basically to figure out if it was heavy enough. I ended up going about a half mile because the rock pile I was going to drop it off at was further than I thought it was. After the GORUCK event yesterday, this was pretty challenging but as one of the lieutenants in the police academy was so found of saying, “suck it up, buttercup." The rock hop was a little sketchy because it was sort of inclined (see the photo). I tried filming both of these, but I couldn’t do it really while doing the thing. Finally, I found a tree to hang. This… was a lot harder than I thought it would be. My hands are a little torn up. I was going to try climbing a tree, but the trees around here are either not branchy enough or I’d basically climb one branch and be done. I’d like to find something a little higher off the ground. I’d also like to have a copy of Robert Macfarlane’s The Wild Places with me when I do it. Still looking for spots to do the other parts of the agon.
Badge: I didn’t end up journaling last night. I usually journal in bed, and last night, as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out hard, which never happens (except for when it does, I guess). Since the journaling page specifically states that you don’t have to do it consecutive days (and I don’t think it makes sense to start over), I’m going to truck on doing the day I haven’t done.
